Family...part two

I am so thankful for my wonderful family. I have such a HUGE extended family and it is a blessing to have so many people in your life. My husband and I play the lottery a few times a week and even though we would like to win to help out our financial situation (as I'm sure everyone thinks about), we also want to have the means to help out all of our family like they have helped us. We are so blessed and yet we feel that we can't ever repay them for all they have done for us. We would love the opportunity to. Maybe someday, even if we don't win the lottery, but our financial situation will change for the better and we will have the ability to help out our family as they have for us.  **)

Being thankful

Today I am thankful for feeling better. You don't realize how much being sick effects you, until you are sick. And then, its unfortunate because after you get better, you forget about how wonderful it feels NOT to be sick anymore. Why is that anyway? I'm not sure. All I know is that I haven't felt good in days and I'm all of a sudden feeling better. Its so wonderful! I am thankful for my health.... today. I have SOOOO many medical problems that it is not funny. So when I get sick, I really feel bad. It's just awful! With all the medicines and pills out there, you would think there would be a cure for the common cold by now. Nope, not so much. Actually, I had flu-like symptoms but I feel wonderful right now so I'm thinking its gone. Whew!
I am so very thankful for everything I have. Especially my two fabulous dogs! They are the best dogs ever. Today when I came home for lunch, I let them outside as usual and they ran around and played. Then I let them back in and they came upstairs with me while I ate my lunch. I started to rinse out my dish and clean up the kitchen and then both my dogs ran downstairs. I finished cleaning, put on my purse, grabbed my keys and went downstairs to find both my dogs in their kennels waiting. I didn't even say anything but they knew I was going back to work. That was so cool! I gave them each a treat and left for work. I am so fortunate to be blessed with these wonderful dogs!

Hey Y'all

Sorry it's been a while. I've become pre-occupied with the Twilight books and with my new semester of school starting. I keep reminding myself...only a year and a half left 'til my degree... and that keeps me going. On the other hand, those Twilight books are awesome! At first, I just wanted to finish New Moon before seeing the movie in November. I feel like I was speed-reading the rest. I'm now on the last book, Breaking Dawn, and I don't want to stop reading. I want to find out what happens right now. If you've never read them, I suggest you do. If you liked the movie, (I did), then you will LOVE the books. Everyone told me that the books are better than the movie, even though the movie is really good. I thought, o-k. But I didn't know and after reading, yes they are great. It's a whole other world in there and I can't wait to find out what happens next!
With all this book reading stuff going on...my precious shows are getting pushed aside. I mean its already Wednesday night and I'll probably be calling it a night pretty soon and yet I haven't watched Melrose Place yet. Ugh!! And I'm leaving to go out of town so I don't have much time. Unless, of course, I just get caught up once I come back to town. Hmmmm... that will be an ENTIRE DAY of watching shows..that'll be interesting. Now if only I could get my husband to SAVE those shows for me. He has a "trigger finger" issue...he LOVES to press delete. It just makes him happy. Wish me luck!!
Good night & thanks for reading,

Family... part one

I had a request from my niece to write more about my family. This one is for you, little Mary! **)
I have a fabulous family and am very blessed with such awesome people in my life. Even though my husband and I do not have children of our own, we do have 3 nieces and 2 nephews. Ranging in ages from baby to 3rd grader! Little Mary is a wonderful cook and loves to make others happy. You would never guess that she is only in 3rd grade by the taste of her macaroni and cheese or her delightful chocolate cream pie. YUM-MY!  She has beautiful red hair and looks like a grown up version of my favorite cabbage-patch kid, Gena Jodie. **) The other 3rd grader is my nephew, Riley. He loves being a scout, playing baseball and this year is playing football. He likes it so far and hopefully he will continue to like it the rest of the season. With his pale blond hair and his true blue eyes, he will probably grow up faster than we would like. As I continue in order from oldest to youngest, the next little person is my niece, Leia. She is only in first grade this year and will be joining the girl scouts for the first time. She is very excited about that, but even more excited about being in gymnastics. She is still at that age where a hug means so much to her and playing dress-up and dollies are her favorite things to do. I wish all kids could stay at this age. It is just so innocent and wonderful.
Next is my nephew, Blake, and this year is his first year in school. So far he likes Kindergarten and he has a love for playing with cars, trucks, trains, well anything that moves around. He is a tough little boy and loves his baby sister and his doggie. When I bring my doggies over to play, he runs around the yard calling out for them to chase him. He is so funny and says the craziest things. His baby sister, Tristin, is our other niece. She is still a little baby just starting to pull herself around on things. Not walking yet, but will probably be soon. She has the perfect little baby face.... like she could be the next Gerber baby!
If my husband and I are lucky enough, maybe someday we will have a little one as smart, wonderful and adorable as our nieces and our nephews. But for now, we will settle with having our two wonderful doggies that are extremely loyal, faithful, and loving. We couldn't ask for better dogs.

More TV Land news...and frustrations!

Hello everyone. Well tonight should be interesting with the return of  FRINGE and  BONES on Fox! I love Fringe! That show is so creative and interesting. Last season's finale was fabulous and I can't wait to see where they take this storyline.
I have to admit that I didn't take to the show Bones at first. After the end of ANGEL, I was reluctant to see David Boreanaz as anything other than a hunky vampire-with-a-soul! (Plus, I had too many shows on at the same time when it premiered.) But, thanks to reruns of this show on TNT, I was able to watch past episodes and I have come to really like the characters on this show. Now I haven't seen all seasons, but I have enough interest to start fresh with the new episodes this year and one day hope to collect the shows so I can really catch up.
This brings me to my frustrations about Thursday nights. On the CW network, I have my new guilty pleasure, Vampire Diaries, and my hunky dudes on Supernatural. Now, I've also got Bones and Fringe on FOX. If that wasn't enough, ABC will have Grey's Anatomy on at the same time!! UGH!!! Talk about too many shows on at the same time. This night is a doozie!! (I've got the same problem coming up with Monday night!)
So, I will try the dvr-ing of two shows and watching the third upstairs, but this might not work after all, as I am still finishing my schoolwork at nights and will soon start a new semester that looks to be a bit more demanding. Why can't one of these networks move a couple of these shows to Wednesdays??? The only thing I watch on Wednesdays is GHOST HUNTERS and Ultimate Fighter. And nothing is on at 8:00pm! (Well, nothing that interests me, anyway!) If only one of them might consider, than I would be able to record and watch all shows and still do my schoolwork! Well, I realize that its not a perfect world and I will just have to be satisfied with what I've got, for now anyway. **)
Wish me luck!

Thanks for reading!!

Guilty Pleasures of Tuesday night!

My guilty pleasures have returned and I've got mixed emotions on these shows! I grew up with the original 90210 and Melrose Place and  of course I had to check out these updated versions.
I'm liking the new Melrose. The hunky dudes, the catty women, the "who-dunnit" mystery. Loving the Amanda-ish character of Ella. I think I actually like her better than the original Amanda. She's got that same touch of over-confident bitchyness, but she also has more of a softer side that makes you like her all the same. It's still too early to tell on the other characters but I'm liking it so far, so we'll see.
However, I'm a bit bummed about this season of 90210. The men, well... boys, all seem so stupid. I wonder what's up with Navid's jealousy, why can't Dixon give Silver a chance, and come on Liam, just tell Naomi that her sister is a complete evil beeotch! But then I remember, oh yeah, they are high school boys. Ok, this makes perfect sense now. But what's up with this new guy? Not really crazy about him. Not as cute and likable as Ethan... bring back Ethan already! But on the other hand, I do like the new hair-do's for Silver and Adrianna. Also, Sara Foster is great as Naomi's very naughty older sister and I hope she stays on for a bit.

Looking forward to Supernatural and Vampire Diaries on Thursday night. Boone from Lost as a super hot, but evil vampire.......nice!
And what can I say about Supernatural's Dean & Sam....YUM-MY!!

That's all for now.

Commercials.... will they soon be just a part of history?

So, I'm watching the shows on my dvr and skipping past the commercials, like usual, and I start to wonder when commercials will become obsolete and how advertisers will market their product. Interesting enough, a few days later I'm watching True Blood on HBO and what do I see? Sam talking about Mountain Dew and then someone asks Andy what he is drinking and he says "Diet Coke with Lime." Well, what do you know? The fact is that product placement is not new to television or film, but shouting out the product names during a scene is a little extreme. Honestly, I understand why they need to do this, because of people like me. I just want to hurry up and get to the rest of my show and those commercials, well they are in the way. Next thing we'll probably see a lot more product placement and mentions throughout more and more shows, until someday there aren't any commercials at all. Although, I do think we are a few years away from that happening. Now, I am expecting to see more of the "presented with limited commercials" in our future and I can deal with that.

Thanks for reading and have a fabulous evening!
